Dear Parent
On behalf of the School Governing Body and all staff members we wish to thank you for your continued support during this term. This has not been an easy term to say the least, we have had to navigate many obstacles due to our current situation with regard to the pandemic.
I am positive that many of us including our learners have been affected by the impact of the pandemic in one way or another. We especially think of those who have seen family members and loved ones lose the battle to Covid.
We as a York Road Family and greater community owe it to ourselves to have faith that we will get through this. Until that day arrives I urge everyone to practice safety when interacting with others especially during this holiday period. We must not let our guard down as the risk is far too great. For now we need to stay apart so that when we do gather again as a school no one is missing.
“Rivers do not drink their own water; trees do not eat their own fruit;
The sun does not shine on itself and flowers do not spread their
fragrance for themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature.
We are all born to help each other. No matter how difficult it is…
Life is good when you are happy; but much better when others
are happy because of you.”
FUNDRAISING
We thank all parents who have supported our fundraising initiatives during Term 3, especially the “Raffle”. These fundraising initiatives are essential in assisting us to provide the necessary resources needed to ensure we maintain quality education at York Road Primary.
We encourage those parents who have not yet returned the Raffle lists to do so as soon as possible.
UNIFORM
During Term 4 it is compulsory for all learners to wear the summer uniform as stipulated in the School’s Code of Conduct. (Available on the schools website www.yorkroadprimary.co.za)

TERM 4
Term 4 commences on Monday, 11 October 2021. The school will continue with the Covid 19 protocols and once again the learners will attend school according to the RED/BLUE Programme as per the attendance calendar sent with the reports or available in colour on Rise School Communicator.
The school day starts at 08h00 daily. Please ensure your child arrives punctually (before 07h55). We do not have an educator available to screen learners who arrive late, as all educators are in their classes.
DISMISSAL TIMES
Dismissal times for the 4th Term.
GRADE | MONDAY – THURSDAY | FRIDAY |
R | 08h00 – 13h00 | 08h00 – 12h00 |
1 | 08h00 – 13h40 | 08h00 – 12h05 |
2 | 08h00 – 13h45 | 08h00 – 12h10 |
3 | 08h00 – 14h15 | 08h00 – 12h10 |
4 | 08h00 – 14h20 | 08h00 – 12h15 |
5 | 08h00 – 14h25 | 08h00 – 12h15 |
6 | 08h00 – 14h30 | 08h00 – 12h20 |
7 | 08h00 – 14h35 | 08h00 – 12h20 |
It is disappointing to note that many learners are still arriving late for school, some as late as 08h40. This is in contravention of WCED Policy. Many learners are also collected well after dismissal times.
Please be punctual when dropping and fetching your children as they will not be supervised after school. Collecting children after dismissal times places your child at risk.
PARKING
Please do not park at the access gates or on the bend in Lower York Road. Parking is available in all the side streets. Park away from the Access gates and walk your child to the entrance. It is our intention to maintain our positive relationship with our school neighbours so please do not park across their driveways or block the access to their premises.
PLEASE OBSERVE ALL ROAD RULES!
Thank you to all parents who are courteous and respectful towards our safety officers, staff, neighbours and other road users. We appreciate your patience and co-operation.
SCHOOL FEES
Once again thank you to all parents who have paid their child/children’s school fees. We appeal to parents to pay School Fees as the funds are required to create a clean and safe environment as well as to provide quality education.
Please deposit school fees directly into the School’s Bank Account.
