Dear Parent
Unfortunately the Covid 19 Pandemic is still having a great impact on schooling in South Africa. We encourage the York Road learners and parent community to continue to adhere to all Covid 19 protocols especially during this end of Term break.
On the 27th June 2021, the President announced that all schools will close by Friday, 02 July 2021.
In compliance with this announcement York Road Primary will officially close on Wednesday, 30 June 2021. We encourage all our Grades 4 to 7 learners to attend school on Tuesday, 29 June 2021 and Wednesday, 30 June 2021, according to the Assessment Timetable in order for educators to complete the Assessment Programme for Term 2.
REPORTS
In light of the earlier closure of schools, we will only be able to issue the Term 2 Reports when learners return in the new Term. However, we encourage parents to implement a regular reading programme for both English and Afrikaans during this short break.
TERM 3
We will resume school on the 19 July 2021. Should we receive an alternate directive from the Department of Education regarding the return date for Term 3, we will inform parents via School Rise Communicator. We will also provide guidance with regard to whether all learners are to return on a daily basis or if we will continue with the Red/Blue Attendance Programme.
FUNDRAISING
We thank all parents who supported our fundraising event “Collect a Meal”, which was held on the 11 June 2021. We were able to raise a total of R20 475. This will assist us in providing the necessary resources needed to ensure we maintain quality education at York Road Primary.

PARKING
Please do not park at the access gates or on the bend in Lower York Road. Parking is available in all the side streets. Park away from the Access gates and walk your child to the entrance. It is our intention to maintain our positive relationship with our school neighbours so please do not park across their driveways or block the access to their premises.
PLEASE OBSERVE ALL ROAD RULES!
Thank you to all parents who are courteous and respectful towards our safety officers, staff, neighbours and other road users. We appreciate your patience and co-operation.
In closing, may all our learners remain safe during this short holiday.
Yours in Education
