On behalf of the School Governing Body and all staff members we wish to thank those parents who have supported us during this term, not just by paying school fees but by working alongside us in the best interest of our learners.
We have had numerous challenges this term. There has been a massive increase in vandalism at school. This is particularly worrisome, as it is our learners who are defacing the bathroom walls. We strive to ensure that our ablution facilities are clean and sanitary at all times. We appeal to parents to speak to their children about proper behaviour when using the toilet facilities at school.
We have also noticed an increase in unacceptable behaviour amongst our learners. We have reprimanded a number of learners for bullying, the use of unacceptable language and the sharing of inappropriate content on social media. Parents, please monitor your child’s cellphones use. We do not encourage wattsapp groups as it inevitable leads to misuse and bullying. Speak to your children with regard to what they post in tik tok videos. We live in an age where our learners can so easily find themselves in a situation that they are not equipped to handle.
I recently came across the following and felt that it would be worthwhile to share..
“Parents, if you let your child argue with you, they will argue with me.
If you let your child speak to you in a disrespectful tone, they will take that tone with me.
If you allow your child to break the rules without consequences,
they will not do what I say either.
You see, YOU are your child’s first and most important teacher.
We can only build on the foundation you’ve laid at home.”

STAFFING
During this term we bid farewell to Ms S. Tuider, Grade 7 educator and Mr. R. Prinsloo in the maintenance department.
Please take care and let the learners have a restful break. Learners who have not been academically successful need to utilize their holidays for revision.
I would also like to thank the parents who have sent inspirational words of encouragement to staff members in the form of praise and thanks for the often difficult work they do on a daily basis, it is truly appreciated.
To the staff of York Road Primary School I would like to say THANK YOU for everything you continue to do on a daily basis to enrich the lives of those entrusted in your care. The difference you make in the lives and indeed the future of our learners cannot be quantified.
