Circular: 03/2020

05 June 2020

Dear Grade 7 Parents/Guardians

The DBE has indicated that Grade 7’s should return to school on Monday, 08 June 2020.

We at York Road Primary School understand the concerns of parents and have therefore gone the extra mile to comply with the Covid 19 requirements to make the school as safe as possible.

The following was stated in Covid Circular 01/2020 distributed on 28 May 2020.

The premises including all classrooms have been sanitized and deep cleaned twice. The school has received the necessary PPE’s which includes face masks and sanitizing materials. However, it would be appreciated if parents could supply additional cloth masks as all children are required to wear their own face mask upon arrival at school. Learners are also advised to bring hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial wet wipes, liquid soap and a toilet roll for personal use. These items should be labelled and kept in a sealed covid pack and it remains in their possession at all times. They are also encouraged to have their own stationery and textbooks as no sharing of any items will be allowed.

SAFETY OF LEARNERS

To ensure the safety of all learners the following precautions have been put in place:

  • access control protocols
  • screening processes
  • social distancing markers
  • each class will record the learners temperature
  • pupils will sanitize hands throughout the day.
  • limited class sizes (reduced to fewer than 20 learners so that we can adhere to the social distancing requirements.)
  • academic programme has been amended to limit direct contact between learners.
  • supervised and staggered intervals to ensure social distancing
  • no tuckshop available (Please bring a healthy lunch)
  • Mediators are relieved of their duties until further notice so that they can adhere to the social distancing requirements.
  • staggered dismissal times which are supervised by educators
  • Classrooms and desks will be sanitized daily
